Have a book, product or service that you want the world to know about? Want to start making a living writing marketing content? Need to train your in-house writers to create powerful, persuasive content? You've come to the right place!
My name is Sage Cohen, and I am grateful to live the triple-life of an author, poet and a marketing expert. For nearly two decades, I've been partnering with clients such as Kaiser Permanente, Intuit and Wells Fargo in creating high-impact campaigns that connect. I've used these same skills to build a platform, cultivate a creative community and promote my book, Writing the Life Poetic: An Invitation to Read and Write Poetry.
A lifetime of careful attention to the dynamics of language in poetry gives me an ear for what sings on the page. And a long career of strategic thinking, planning, writing and implementation has honed my knowledge of what works in print and online communication. I'd like to bring this expertise and passion to you.
The Market Your Masterpiece workshop is for authors, solopreneurs and businesses (or their employees) who want to take their promotional prowess to the next level by creating content that sells. I'd love to learn with you in January -- and help you put your best promotions forward.
Market Your Masterpiece: Crafting Compelling Copy that Sells
January 13 - February 24, 2010
Six classes in six weeks--taught by email
Pump up your promotional prowess by learning how to write compelling copy that connects -- and sells.
In this six-week class, you will learn how to:
- Define and articulate the unique value of your offering
- Name your key target audiences and their needs
- Clarify your competitive advantage in the market
- Learn the key principles that inform high-impact copy writing
- Create boilerplate promotional content that tells your story exceptionally well
- Translate boilerplate content to email, direct mail and web site content
- Gain confidence in your ability to stand behind your offering, tell your story well and have more fun doing so
Students will come away with everything they need to implement a basic, multi-media promotional campaign (comprising one email, direct mail and basic web site content) for one product or service of their choosing.
Student assignments include a weekly strategic planning and/or writing exercise and check-in, both of which are shared with the other class members. The instructor offers personal attention throughout the six weeks by answering questions for the entire class, just like a traditional, “live” class. Detailed reviews of your work-in-progress are included at weeks 3 and 6: you choose one of your pieces for instructor critique each time.
Duration:
Six lessons with six assignments completed in six weeks
Dates:
Starts January 13, 2010
Prerequisites:
None. This class is for people who want to build a basic promotional and marketing skill set and put those skills and principles into action. You must be able to receive and create Microsoft Word documents (and view comments/track changes) to participate. The instructor will send a personal introduction request form after your registration is confirmed and a class evaluation when the class is complete.
Class Materials:
The instructor provides class materials via e-mail in the form of Microsoft Word documents on start date of class, so students must be able to read and create MSW docs to participate. Students will provide a jpeg photo/headshot and a one-paragraph introduction the week prior to the class start date. It's a voluntary but fun way to “meet” your classmates!
Cost: $250.00
